I had the hardest time getting a dress for my company holiday party. I won’t bore you with all of the details but in short, I bought the same dress three times. The first one that came was too small. The other two did not arrive before the party. Neither did the dress I ordered for New Years Eve, which was supposed to be my backup dress.
Two of the three dresses were on the UPS truck for delivery on Friday (the party was on Saturday) and I received notice at 9:45 PM that they would not be delivered and I could not pick them up myself because the storage warehouses are closed on Saturdays. I was livid because when they hadn’t arrived by 8PM, I called UPS and was told they were still going to arrive on Friday night. That forced me to rush to the store at 8AM on Saturday to search for another dress. I was pressed for time since I had a hair appointment that morning too.
I narrowed it down to two dresses. I couldn’t make the decision just then so I bought both and made my final choice only 30 minutes before it was time to leave. I settled on a flirty black and green dress by BCBGeneration. Lo and behold, as I got to the party, which was held at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, another woman arrived in the same dress.
Thankfully, we accessorized differently. I wore the dress with a chunky silver bracelet, a silver River Island snake embossed clutch, Berkshire Ultra Sheer pantyhose in Tan de Sole (my nude color) and six inch Steve Madden Deeny Platform pumps. The other woman wore opaque black tights, peep-toe black booties with a one inch heel and a black bag.
Even though it was not the outfit I wanted, I was pretty pleased with the last minute look. If you’re interested in recreating it for an upcoming event, follow the links below to purchase. Hopefully, you will have better luck with shipping and delivery than I did.
